RIP W Bro Alan Llewellyn PPrGSwdB PM 5084

With great personal sadness, I bring you news of the passing, to the Grand Lodge Above of W.Bro. Alan Llewellyn, PPrGSwdB. 

Alan was 72 years old and had been in very poor health for some time. He had been hospitalised for most of 2019 alternating between Bridgend's Princess of Wales Hospital and Morriston Hospital, Swansea. Indeed, he was being transported between the two by ambulance on Tuesday afternoon (19 November) when after suffering multiple cardiac events, he lost his long battle.

Initiated in Morganwg Lodge No 5084 in Bridgend in October 1990, Alan was Installed into the chair of KS in January 2002. On a personal note, he installed me as his successor the following year. We had known each other first in 1969, lost touch and then renewed our friendship when we both found ourselves in Morganwg Lodge.

Alan was first appointed Past Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 2008 and promoted to Past Provincial Grand Sword Bearer in 2018.

He was a hard worker for the Lodge, ready to fit in to any vacant office and, with his late wife Jane, was a permanent fixture at Bridgend Masonic social events!

Alan is survived by his 94 year old mother who lives in Greater Manchester, and a son and daughter. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time.
