Brethren, 

It is with considerable sadness that I report the death of Brother Colin Evans, a Past Provincial Grand Steward and a member of the Penybont Lodge for over fifty one years.

His passed to the Grand Lodge above earlier today whilst in hospital. He was 89 years old.

Bro Colin was Initiated into the Penybont Lodge on March 17th 1972 with his Proposer being W. Bro. Byron Butler and his Seconder being W. Bro. Moelwyn Llewellyn.

In Provincial Grand Lodge he was appointed as a Master Mason with Provincial Rank in 1998, becoming a Past Provincial Grand Steward. This is most certainly an honour which reflected his commitment to the Craft.

Within the Lodge, Bro Colin was known, respected, and admired across the spectrum of members. He was known as a Brother who would readily help the Master by stepping into any role, carrying it out effectively with a sure, meaningful and accurate delivery of the ritual.

He was known as a Brother who gave wise counsel regarding any situation which arose, whether that be to a less experienced Brother who wished to know more about the Lodge, or a more experienced member who sought advice on the most appropriate form of action.

Indeed, he had become the 'de facto' Lodge archivist and historian who was able to easily recount the history of the Lodge and provide some fascinating insights into its development.

Our thoughts are with his wife Joan as this challenging time.

The funeral of Brother Colin Evans will be held on 
Monday 27th November at 
Coychurch Crematorium in Bridgend 
commencing at 12.00 midday 
and afterwards, at the Bridgend Masonic Centre.
