Brethren,
With much personal sadness I bring you the news of the passing to the Grand Lodge Above of
W.Bro. Thomas Haydn Morgan. Haydn was 93 at the time of his passing on Friday 6th September. |
I first encountered Haydn when I attended the (then) Bridgend Technical College in 1968-73. He was Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at that time and, I understand, became Vice-Principal of what became Bridgend College by the time of his retirement. He was held in the highest esteem by students and staff at the college. I have heard quite a few stories of his kindness and professionalism since the sad news of his passing became known. |
Haydn was Initiated into Bridgend's Morganwg Lodge on 20 May 1957 and was Installed into the Chair of KS on 19 January 1970. A loyal, faithful and hard-working member of the Lodge, he was Director of Ceremonies and Preceptor for many years. Softly spoken but with a devastating wit and keen intellect, for me and everyone else, being in Haydn's company was a joy.
Haydn was elected to Honorary Membership of the Lodge in 2003 - during my first Mastership, in fact.
It was only a few months ago that Haydn went into Residential Care. I understand that his family were with him at the time of his passing. |
The funeral service will take place on
Monday 16 September 2019 at Coychurch Crematorium
commencing at 11.30am
and afterwards at the Heronstone Hotel,
Ewenny Road, Bridgend. |
REQUIESCAT IN PACE.
Yours fraternally,
Martyn Daley, PGStB
Master, Morganwg Lodge, No 5084 |
